Julie Massam is a mixed media artist living and working in West Penwith – a stunning peninsula on the far tip of Cornwall near Land’s End.
‘I love the elemental quality of the landscape here. It is gentle, yet powerful and highly charged. The hedgerows, beaches, ocean and moorland – even the people both past and present are constantly shifting and changing creating a mystical cacophony of colour, texture, sound and emotion. It simultaneously shocks and delights my senses. Through my art, I am attempting to ‘plug in’ to this natural energy, searching for a way to translate it. Like many artists before me, I am constantly experimenting and refining ways of working so that I can convey this natural ‘code’ as art.’
Julie has a degree in Art and Design from Lancaster University and regularly exhibits as an Associate Member of the Penwith Society of Arts in St. Ives.
